Professional development is relevant: Professional development is aligned to the framework so
training is relevant, cumulative and directly linked to what teachers do in class.

Core principles that sit behind our Teaching and Learning framework are:

            1. Universal first: Start with excellent classroom teaching before adding interventions – Keep up,
                    not catch up.

            2. Sequence matters: Teach the foundations thoroughly and deliberately before moving on.

            3. Evidence-informed practice: Use approaches supported by research and adapted to our context.

            4. High expectations for all: Every pupil is capable of progress when given the right support.

When we are clear about what excellent teaching looks like, our pupils flourish — and our school

keeps its PROMISE to our community:

                                           • Inclusive — Every pupil accesses an ambitious, well-sequenced
curriculum because teachers plan high-quality lessons with planned
adaptations so no child is left behind.

                                           • Welcoming — Every day begins with predictable, nurturing routines
and clear communication so pupils and families feel they belong and
                                           are ready to learn.

                                           • Nurturing — Strong relationships and pastoral checks remove
emotional barriers so pupils can engage confidently with learning.

                                           • Passionate — Staff model deep subject knowledge and use
memorable explanations so lessons spark curiosity and build secure
                                           understanding.

                                           • Inspiring — Lessons require pupils to “think hard,” use scaffolds
appropriately and include spaced retrieval so learning is secured and
                                           transferable.
