Our Rationale

        At Green Gates Primary School, we believe that excellent teaching changes lives. When pupils are
        engaged and inspired by a well-designed curriculum and high quality lessons, motivation rises,
        knowledge sticks and learning becomes meaningful. Our community — children, families and staff —
        thrives because pupils feel safe, happy and valued. That sense of belonging is the non-negotiable
        foundation on which all learning rests.

        This framework exists to make high-quality teaching consistent across school. In a school serving a
        community with high levels of socio-economic challenge, the difference between good intentions and
        reliably effective practice is clarity. A clear framework:

            Sets a common language and shared expectations for teachers and teaching assistants so every
            pupil receives strong, equitable provision;

            Reduces unnecessary workload by describing tested, evidence-informed approaches rather than
            leaving teachers to reinvent solutions;

            Focuses professional development so staff time builds skills that reliably improve pupil outcomes.

        Our PURPOSE shapes everything in this
        framework. Across Green Gates we will:

        Promote Happiness — create classrooms where pupils feel
        secure and ready to learn.

        Discover Success — design learning that enables rapid
        progress from low starting points to strong outcomes.

        Achieve Excellence — expect precise, well-sequenced
        teaching so pupils leave prepared for their next stage.

        Why a teaching and learning framework is right for Green Gates:
            Consistency matters for progress: With 90–95% of pupils starting nursery well below national

            expectations and a high proportion eligible for pupil premium, predictable, high-quality classroom
            practice accelerates learning for all pupils and narrows gaps quickly.

            Support rather than restrict: The framework provides enough standardisation to guarantee equity
            and shared professional language, and enough autonomy for teachers to adapt learning to the
            needs of their pupils.
